Hell and Purgatory
4. Who will be resurrected?
(a) The “dead in Christ” will be resurrected, those who have agreed to serve God and give Him their lives. They must be brought back to life so they can be judged and receive for what they have done (2 Cor. 5:10).
5. What is “Hell fire”
(a) In Revelation 21:8, the “lake of fire” is the final destination of all evildoers. What is it? The passage answers the question for us. The lake of fire is the second death.
Revelation 21:8 (NKJV)
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
(b) The New Testament was first written in Greek; and the Greek word that Jesus used when he spoke of “hell fire” is “fire of Gehenna” (See Matthew 10:28; James 3:6).
